The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Juan Carlos Mathews reported that within the framework of the collaboration alliance between the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), the support of both was signed. organizations to prepare the Peru Tourism Investment Guide, the signing occurred during Peru’s participation in the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) that takes place in the city of Madrid (Spain).

The Guide will be prepared during this year and will be a tool to attract investments and strengthen our country’s position as a leading tourist destination in Latin America. During its construction, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) will be in charge of collecting, delivering and reviewing the information required for its production according to UNWTO standards.

It should be noted that Mincetur, through the National Strategic Tourism Plan, seeks to generate a positive impact on all social strata, covering various regions of the territory and providing a favorable environment for foreign investment, characterized by economic stability and legal security. .

Tourist destination Management Plan

On the other hand, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Juan Carlos Mathews, reported that Mincetur and the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF) will join forces to develop the Management Plan for the Machupicchu tourist destination that will strengthen the tourist management of the Historical Sanctuary of Machupicchu.

Together with the CAF tourism director, Óscar Rueda García, the head of Mincetur explained that the plan involves the development of a study of Limits of Acceptable Change (LCA), a component that will provide information for the formulation of public policies, with indicators and measurements that facilitate the sustainable management of tourist activity in our world wonder.

“CAF will allocate US$ 150,000.00 for the preparation of the terms of reference of the Management Plan, which will include a specialized study to diagnose the current tourist offer considering the different accesses to the Llaqta Inca of Machupicchu, such as rail access, pedestrian access o Inca Trail and Amazon access,” explained Minister Mathews.

In order to achieve the objectives, new technologies will be incorporated to manage the visit to the Llaqta de Machupicchu, accesses and internal routes will be improved, and a tourist dynamic will be managed that covers the city of Cusco and the future Chinchero airport. .

To prepare the Plan, he added, there will be the participation of the Regional Government of Cusco and local governments, in addition to various tour operators, sector unions, the Machupicchu Management Unit, Ministry of the Environment, Sernanp, the Ministry of Culture. , the Decentralized Directorate of Culture Cusco and other public and private entities.
