Peruštitsa hands Ruth Koleva to the prosecutor’s office for her photos of a monument

Discontent in Peruštitsa after the singer’s photo shoot Ruth Koleva on a monument to those who died in the April uprising.

Photos of the singer posing in skimpy clothing atop the sarcophagus of the Three Generations monument surfaced last week. Council says they have not been informed.

Residents of the city are outraged. According to them, the singer invaded the memory of the thousands of Perushtets who died for the freedom of Bulgaria.

The mayor of Peruštitsa, Maria Valkanova, filed a complaint with the prosecutor.

“I think this is the most normal reaction, however it is an insult to all citizens of Perushtitsa and to our nation. There is also a violation of public order,” he said.

According to her, access to the sarcophagus is free and everyone can take pictures, but not in this ugly way. Vulkanova pointed out that the singer did not ask for permission from the town hall to do her photo shoot the monument.

“This monument on Mount Vlasevica was built on the site of the first protected rebellion post during the April uprising. It was built in 1976 to mark the 100th anniversary of the April uprising,” said Nevena Chavdarova of the Perrushtitsa Historical Museum.

The people of Peruštitsa are indignant. According to them, the singer’s behavior is offensive and ugly.

On Facebook, Ruth Koleva apologized for the photos and stated that neither she nor her team intended to damage the reputation of the Bulgarian heroes.

“This situation is the result of many factors, the main of which is the decay and neglect accumulated over the years, which have gone unnoticed or suitably ignored. The Three Generations Monument is in such a miserable and shocking state that it is unlikely to be. seen and visit it for some reason. I’m not telling you to justify me. The truth is that we didn’t know what this monument represented because there was no information about it anywhere “, commented the singer.

The Plovdiv District Attorney’s Office said an investigation was underway.

“The idea is to assess whether there is something that citizens can be indignant about, how the monument is, is it maintained, what is the access to it,” commented Chavdar Groshev from the prosecutor’s office.

The municipality denied that the monument is not being managed well. A few months ago the city festival took place there. They also said they are waiting for money for repairs from the Ministry of Finance.

And Ruth Koleva promised in her post that she would donate funds for it.
