Pepe Fired from Team Selection Duty

Absent from the last two games of FC Porto due to injury, Pepe was this Sunday released from the work of the National Team, which from Monday begins the preparation of the double commitment to qualify for Euro 2024, against Liechtenstein and Luxembourg. Despite being without a player on his roster, Roberto Martínez will not name a replacement for the veteran FC Porto defender.

Pepe was dismissed from the training camp that the National Team A starts this afternoon in Cidade do Futebol to prepare for the double journey that marks the beginning of the qualifying phase of the European Championship to be played in Germany in 2024.

Pepe was considered unavailable by the FPF’s Health and Performance Unit and thus dismissed from the call-up

Portugal faces Liechtenstein on Thursday in Alvalade and on Sunday it plays in Luxembourg.”
