People who like sexting have a narcissistic personality, this is the study!

According to a study, people who like sexting tend to have a personality narcissistic. An international team of researchers has found that people who are already sexting tend to have a personality narcissism and Machiavellianism.

You may already be familiar with narcissism, which is usually used to describe someone who has ego and lacks empathy. Meanwhile, Machiavellianism usually refers to people who like to manipulate and exploit other people.

Researchers have conducted a survey on this subject of more than 6,000 participants in 11 countries. They distinguish 3 types of sexting, namely experimental, risky and severe.

Experimental sexting is an exchange sexual content which is still classified as standard because a lot of people do and maybe just everyday sexual content.

Meanwhile, risky sexting is an activity of exchanging sexual content that is done while drinking alcohol and exchanging it with strangers online.

Then, severe sexting refers to behavior that is more dangerous, because of sharing sex content publicly without asking other people’s consent. In fact, this severe sexting can be done forcibly or under pressure from a partner or friend.

This study then looked at the relationship between personality factors of narcissism and machiavellianism with the three types of sexting.

The researchers found that experimental, risky and severe sexting was associated with machiavellianism, but not psychopathy.

There are also differences in the results of the analysis between men and women. The results showed that men were more likely to engage in risky sexting and severe sexting. In addition, men are also more likely to do sexting under pressure from a partner.
