PDIP’s High Bet Stretches Puan When Electability Stalls

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Exchange of presidential or vice presidential candidates to compete in Indonesia 2024 presidential election Each political party has begun to appear in the future. One of the things that raises its cadres in the upcoming 2024 presidential election is PDI Perjuangan (PDIP).

Chairman of the Central Java PDIP DPP Bambang Wuryanto said that the chairman of the DPR RI Mrs. Maharani will be positioned as a candidate for vice president. He pushed for Puan’s name, whoever the PDIP’s presidential candidate would be in 2024.

This was stated by Bambang in a recording of his voice circulating.

The formula is, Puan Maharani Teh Botol Sosro. Whatever the food, drink the sosro bottled tea. Yes? Whoever the presidential candidate is, the deputy is PM (Puan Maharani),” said Bambang in the voice recording.

Political observer from the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) Wasisto Raharjo Jati said that Puan’s discourse as a vice presidential candidate was a provision for political transactions for PDIP when dealing with other parties to form a coalition in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

“Of course the appointment of Puan as a cawapres becomes a fixed price political transaction for PDIP if it is offered to form a coalition with another party,” Wasisto told reporters. CNNIndonesia.com, Tuesday (8/6).

Even so, Wasisto assessed that Puan’s candidacy would be a gamble and a risk for PDIP. One of the highlights is the survey results which show that the electability of women who are also listed as the Chair of the PDIP DPP is still low and stagnant.

Wasisto considered this condition to be a challenge for PDIP in proposing candidates. This is because other parties must choose the presidential and vice presidential candidates who have high electability.

A number of recent presidential candidate surveys have placed Puan in low and stagnant electability. The Y-Publica survey, for example, shows that Puan is in 12th position with 0.7 percent. In the survey of female presidential candidates from the Grassroots Strategic Consulting (ASRC) version, Puan only won fifth position with 4.01 percent.

Recently, the latest survey of Indonesian Political Parameters, put Puan in 12th position with an electability of 1.7 percent.

“I think PDIP is also aware that Puan’s low electability is the reason for being plotted as a vice presidential candidate. Besides that, it could also be part of Puan’s political imitation efforts to imitate her mother, Megawati. [Ketua Umum PDIP Megawati Soekarnoputri], before he became president, he became vice president first,” said Wasisto.

For information, Megawati, who was originally vice president, was promoted to the fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia in 2001 after Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) was impeached by the MPR RI.

The effort to polish Puan’s electability for 2024 is on the next page.
