PDIP Asks Prabowo to Correct Statement on Bung Karno’s Use of Defense Equipment

Secretary General PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto asked for presidential candidate number 2 Prabowo Subianto corrected his statement which said that the first President of the Republic of Indonesia, Sukarno alias Bung Karno, used used defense equipment during the West Irian liberation war.

Hasto said that the defense equipment used by Bung Karno was just a gift from other countries that supported Indonesian independence.

“So, there is nothing left, so we hope Pak Prabowo will make corrections to his statement last night,” said Hasto in a press conference at the PDIP DPP Office, Jakarta, Monday (8/1).

Not only that, Hasto said that the new defense equipment that Indonesia had at that time was also deployed to help other countries gain independence.

He gave the example of sending a Whiskey class submarine to Pakistan.

“We sent a Whiskey class submarine, why? Because the Father of the Pakistani Nation, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, helped Indonesia with the resolution of jihad on November 10 1945,” said Hasto.

Previously, Prabowo’s statement was made to answer the question of used defense equipment, which Ganjar often mentioned in the 2024 presidential election debate on Sunday (7/1) evening.

“I remind you, Bung Karno, when he faced West Irian, all his equipment was used. Pak Ganjar, Bung Karno, all the airplanes, submarines, cruiser, destroyer, all used. “So, we still use a lot, until now, used aircraft,” said Prabowo.
