PC Health Check will finally tell you why your computer is not ready for Windows 11

Windows 11 comes with higher hardware requirements than the current Windows 10. In addition to a 1GHz dual-core processor with a 64-bit architecture, 4GB of RAM or 64GB of storage, the new operating system will also require an active module RPM 2.0, which scared many users. This was probably also the reason why many users of high-performance kits reported that their computer was not compatible with Windows 11. However, the PC Health Check tool, which, among other things, verifies compatibility for the upcoming upgrade, had one crucial lack. He did display incompatibility information, but without any specification.-

An update to PC Health Check to version 2.3 resolved this issue. If you run an updated version and the tool detects that your computer does not meet the requirements, it will immediately inform you of the reason. These may include, for example, a missing (or disabled) TPM 2.0 security feature, insufficient internal storage capacity, an unsupported processor, or the absence of a Secure Boot standard in UEFI. To update the tool PC Health Check you will need to download and run the installation file of the new version, which will replace the original (if you have it installed). It is possible that PC Health Check will receive further improvements in the coming weeks (such as even more detailed compatibility information), which Microsoft suggested a few days ago.-

New requirement for laptops from 2023

In addition to increasing the minimum hardware requirements for current computers, Microsoft is preparing one change for the future. Published technical support document (PDF), which contains more detailed information about the requirements of the new operating system, we will also read about changes related to the webcam. While so far this feature is only optional, in the future all new consumer devices with Windows 11 should be equipped with a front camera. Of course, Desktop PCs are exempt from this obligation, but include, for example, laptops, tablets or all-in-one PCs. The requirement will enter into force on 1 January 2023 and will, of course, only apply to new installations.-

Since virtually all new laptops and other mobile devices are equipped with a webcam, it will not cause any complications for manufacturers. However, Microsoft has also set specific requirements for cameras that should have at least HD resolution (720p), automatic exposure (AE) and automatic white balance (AWB). This change could therefore help to improve the quality of webcams integrated in computers. On the other hand, many manufacturers have taken this step themselves due to the growing popularity of video calls. The rear camera will continue to be an option on all types of devices.
