The Pays de la Loire region has decided not to renew the multi-year funding agreements entered into with the universities of Nantes, Angers and Le Mans. The opposition (PS) denounces “savings on the backs of universities”, and university presidents “warn about the consequences in terms of student success”. Samia Soultani-Vigneron, VP ESR of the region, reacts to AEF info: “What we were financing was partly related to the functioning of universities; it is not up to us to assume this burden”, underlining “the real problem : the under-funding of universities”.
