Patrick, the first TGV leaving the Alstom factories in Belfort is retiring

Emotion sequence for all SNCF agents and Alstom Belfort workers. The very first TGV power train, leaving the Alstom factories in Belfort in July 1978, and nicknamed Patrick, will retire at the end of February, after a final farewell tour in the SNCF technical centers between February 5 and 25, announces the railway company.

13.5 million km traveled

“For the occasion, the train has been re-coated in the colors of its historic liveries: original orange for the power cars, blue and carmillon for the cars”, we explain to the SNCF. This motor was in circulation for almost 41 years on commercial lines. “It had been renovated, reconfigured, repainted in blue, the equipment had been changed, but the original engine was still in circulation until last December”.
