Party with 22 youngsters shut down after violation of corona rules: … (Wetteren)

Wetteren –

Sunday morning, the police shut down a private party in the center of Wetteren. 22 young people received a PV. The police are not happy with it. “This is worrying. Perhaps there will be ‘super spreaders’ of the corona virus at such a party. ”

Around 4 o’clock Sunday morning, a local resident from Wetteren center called the police to report noise nuisance. The police came to the scene and determined that a private party was going on, with 22 people in their twenties and thirties.

“Many measures against the corona virus were not observed,” says Sertan Icten of the Wetteren-Laarne-Wichelen police zone. “The distance rule of one and a half meters was out of the question and no masks were worn. Moreover, the rule says that you can be in a cluster of fifteen people, and no more. ”

Superverspreiders

The police of the State of the Netherlands are high that some do not care about the corona rules. “This is worrying. We have been trying for months to make everyone aware and enforce the rules, but apparently some people feel that everything is over, and of course it is not. The danger has not yet passed. Such a party can lead to ‘super spreaders’, who can also infect their own cluster of fifteen people. What awaits us in the coming weeks if some people are so lax? A large part of the population adheres to the rules, but apparently some have still not understood. ”

250 euro fine

The party was immediately stopped – without incident – and all those present received an official report. The public prosecutor’s office decides what the next step will be. “If it concerns a first offense, there is a chance that they will have to pay an amicable settlement of 250 euros. However, when it comes to a repeat offender, it can appear in court in the form of a summary trial. But that’s up to the parquet. Even with a first offense, there is a chance that you will have to appear in court. ”

The police, meanwhile, remain vigilant. “We have listed a number of locations where people sometimes gather together, and we patrol there more often. We will continue to act when the rules are broken. ”
