Party leader of the Party for the Animals not going to The Hague: “Exactly what I thought”

Johnas van Lammeren, the party leader of the Party for the Animals in the Amsterdam city council, is in tenth place on the list of candidates for the House of Representatives. He would love to go to The Hague, but is realistic enough to know that it won’t. He is happy with the six seats for his party in the first exit polls.

Van Lammeren has installed himself in front of the TV with a good gin and tonic. His party members from Amsterdam and The Hague watch from two laptops. Van Lammeren would like to represent the Party for the Animals in The Hague, but knows that with place ten on the list, that will not happen. “I think we will finish nationally in six seats. I hope seven.”

Van Lammeren almost falls from the bank when D66 stands at 27 seats in the first exit poll. But he sits calmly again when it is his party’s turn. Six seats, one more than now in the House of Representatives. “That’s exactly what I thought.” The gin and tonic is almost gone. “As a politician this is of course a fantastic evening. Nice to experience. But a bit boring. This is the life of a politician. Just glamor. Cheers.”
