Three Antwerp women, who went to Syria with foreign fighters for the Islamic State terrorist group are repatriated this Wednesday with six of their children from Turkey. They are on their way to Belgium, says the federal prosecutor’s office.
They are two women, 27 and 26 years old, who should have already returned in March but were stranded due to the coronavirus health crisis, as well as a third woman, 28 years old. The latter is one of those foreign fighters who sought to force Belgium to organize a repatriation with forced calls.
On arrival, these Antwerp women will be taken directly to the prison. The children will be examined at the hospital and then it will be assessed whether their grandparents can take care of them.
