Parliament closed special justice, but only at first reading

GERB and MRF did not participate in the vote, we are all to blame for the failure of judicial reform, concluded Mika Zaykova

At the end of its last working day, the 46th parliament also closed special justice, albeit only at first reading. This was done with 130 votes in favor and no votes against or abstentions. Opponents of the change from GERB and MRF did not take part in the vote.

However, the law cannot be implemented, as the changes will not have time to be voted on at second reading – the last minutes of the National Assembly are underway, which will be dissolved tomorrow.

The bill was introduced by the co-chair of the DB Hristo Ivanov and a group of MPs. The changes provide for the closure of the specialized court and the specialized prosecutor’s office.

ITN and BSP accused Democratic Bulgaria and IBGNI of delaying and thwarting changes to the law on the judiciary. “They are on the principle of ‘get up to sit down’, said MP Ivo Atanasov from ITN, who was nominated for Minister of Justice in the second draft cabinet of Slavi Trifonov.

“We will support this project at first reading, although it was made either by the students of Mr. Atanas Slavov or by Hristo Ivanov on the principle of judicial reform, which he started as Deputy Prime Minister of Borissov and Minister – an extremely bad project. But it is stating that judicial reform is needed. We have no dependencies, we will continue and we will implement judicial reform, “he pledged. “It must be clearly and categorically stated that by creating the possibility of not forming a government, for which Hristo Ivanov, DB, IBGNI are to blame, the possibility of judicial reform has been cut off,” Atanasov concluded.

I see that Hadjigenov is dissatisfied with something, I have not gone to paid protests“, he interjected, which provoked Hadjigenov to ask:

“Shouldn’t candidates for justice ministers have an idea of the law?”

“This is what happens when you watch the protests on TV. All the power of the state in the face of GERB, MIA and SANS made frantic attempts to prove financial benefactors, sorry, I did not remember your name, but you were an unfulfilled Minister of Justice, and failed,” he replied. .

“The blame that there is no judicial reform, you should look for it mainly in you,” joined the opinion of Ivo Atanasov and Social Democrat Yavor Bojankov, referring to the three parties to the protest. He admitted that now in the campaign they will accuse the other formations of failing the judicial reform.

The MRF rejected the attacks, recalling that they provided the quorum in the legal commission to pass the changes of the DB.

After feeling deliberate, Hristo Ivanov stood on the podium.

We understood that the main enemy is the DB, but in fact the reform was prepared by ITN and BSP, we failed it and they failed to vote for us. Apparently we all want this judicial reform for ourselves. Use it more in a campaign, Mr. Bozhankov. This will be good news and I will be happy. So, really in the next parliament there will be something around which to unite “, Ivanov replied.

He addressed those criticizing him in the plenary hall: “Every time you say that Hristo Ivanov is personally to blame for this government, that it was not accepted, you advertise to me and thank me.”

“They wanted a lot of judicial reform from ITN, but they did not want to,” said Maya Manolova, chairwoman of the IBGNI General Assembly. “It is good that the meetings of the commissions are public and the Bulgarian citizens could see who thwarted the quorum and the meetings. The request for judicial reform for these people has become a mask, and the slogan in this National Assembly turned out to be – “I really wanted judicial reform, but I had no desire”, summarized Manolov.

“We are all to blame for the failure of judicial reform“, exclaimed the doyen of the 46th National Assembly Mika Zaykova. She expressed the expectation that most of those sitting in the plenary hall will be deputies in the next 47th National Assembly and will show greater responsibility.
