Minors are immediately arrested with a view to preliminary charges and may also receive a police report for “disturbing parenting situation”.

In the coming days and weeks, the Antwerp court will be a lot stricter around the so-called lockdown parties. The reason is a number of those parties in Antwerp and Schoten last weekend. “It is certain that such gatherings with several people are probably a source of contamination. Such situations must therefore be dealt with absolutely. Especially now that everyone is sufficiently aware of the risks and the impact of the virus ”, it sounds.
That is why the consequences of new violations become much greater. If the police finds adults at such a lockdown party, an amicable settlement will no longer be proposed, but those persons will immediately receive a summons before the police court during a themed hearing on corona.
The consequences will also be much greater for minors at such parties. From now on, they will be immediately arrested with a view to a possible trial. In addition, the police will also look into possibly drawing up an official report for a “disturbing parenting situation”.
The Antwerp public prosecutor’s office hopes that due to the stricter approach, fewer lockdown parties will take place in the near future. It is not yet clear whether other public prosecutors in our country will opt for this approach.
