Paris. A violent fire in a building in the 14th arrondissement

A violent fire said this Thursday, June 11, 2020, around 7:50 a.m., in an eight-story building located at 134, boulevard Brune, near the Porte d’Orléans, in the XIV^e district of Paris.

The fire concerned 2^e until 8^e building floor, and several apartments were affected by the incident. A stairwell was found fully ignited, while another was also hit, but to a lesser extent, explained the Paris Fire Brigade to France 3.

Eight people saved from flames

Three social housing buildings were evacuated. Thirteen light injuries, including a firefighter, were transferred to the hospital after the fire. Firefighters were able to rescue 8 people from the flames using ladders.

The impressive plume of smoke is visible from afar, including the device, as evidenced by photos or videos posted on Twitter.

A hundred fire soldiers are mobilized. The Brigade indicates that the fire was brought under control in just under two hours, with the help of six spears.

A candle at the origin of fire?

The Parisian specifies that it was the residents who warned the firefighters. Fire started in the maids’ rooms on the top floors of a building in this red-brick HLM complex that stretches along the Maréchaux, property of the RIVP, the social landlord of the city of Paris. The 7^e and 8^e floors are destroyed.

Technicians from the central laboratory of the prefecture of police were dispatched to comb the scene. The fire started well on the 8th floor. According to a witness, a candle would be the source of fire.
