Parents Sumanta want clarity: ‘Tell me where my daughter is’ | Inland

Reporter Robert Vinkenborg will be at the case from 11.40 am.

According to lawyer Priya Soekhai, who represents Sumanta’s family, the hope is that B. will finally talk: “Until now, the suspect has been silent in all languages. Shortly after the previous hearing, he was again interrogated by the criminal investigation department and once again invoked his right to remain silent.”

Mother Sharmila Nanda makes a penetrating appeal to the wife of Manodj B. and other mothers in the family. According to her, they were involved in a family meeting in which it was decided that the pregnant Sumanta had to be killed in order to save the family honour. “You are also mothers and can understand what my pain is. From mother to mother I beg to tell the truth so that we can give our child a dignified goodbye and begin to process the loss.”

grueling

More formally, more will be announced on Monday about the searches that were held in July in the De Hulk recreation area near Scharwoude. Police are not releasing any information about the results. “Obviously the family would have been the first to hear if her body had been found,” says the lawyer.

“Searching the area where Sumanta may have been dumped by her killers was grueling for both parents. Hope that keeps shattered has not done the health of the mother any good.”

The parents say they realize they will never see their daughter alive again: “Our last hope is that justice will come and that we can say goodbye.”
