UI students’ families, M Hasya Attalah Syaputra (18) open their voice regarding the determination of a suspect in an accident with a retired police officer with the initials ESBW. According to the family, the determination of the suspect did not take place long after 100 days of Hasya’s death.
“That’s right, so the 100 days are January 14, only January 14 we are in Bogor because the deceased’s sister had to carry the name of South Sumatra, Banyuasin, to participate in the championship, the Bogor art taekwondo championship,” said Ira, as Hasya’s biological mother when met at UI Salemba Central Jakarta on Friday (27/1/2023).
“We waited for it to come home on the 16th, then with the case like that, we held it at the orphanage. Then on the 17th I met with a lawyer, when we were dealing with it, our lawyer received the call, saying that Hasya’s case had been closed , SP3 because the suspect died,” he added.
Ira thought that the suspect who died was a retired ESBW police officer. However, it turns out that the son who died in the accident is named a suspect.
“At home I saw that there was a letter, I took a photo, I gave it to our lawyer, our lawyer said ‘Ma’am the suspect died’, we thought that the one who died was the alleged perpetrator, it turns out that the suspect was our child,” he explained .
He too felt confused. Moreover, he said, the police did not provide information on the progress of the case.
“The letter arrived on January 17 at noon, an SP3 letter. But at night around 23.00 WIB another SP2HP came. I’m confused about what this means, where did the case go,” he said.
The Family is Disappointed with the Determination of the Suspect
The family is disappointed with the determination of the suspect by a student at the University of Indonesia (UI), M Hasya Attalah Syaputra (18), the victim who died in an accident involving a retired police officer with the initials ESBW. Ira, Hasya’s mother wanted the process to be transparent.
“Disappointed, of course. Angry, who are you going to be angry with,” said Ira.
Ira wants the case involving her child to be transparent. He wants to know who the real suspect is.
“We just want the process to be transparent. If the process has to start from the beginning, we are ready. As long as it’s transparent and everything is clear, we know who the suspect is,” he explained.
Ira is ready to challenge Hasya’s determination of the suspect to court. He admits that he is ready with all his decisions later.
“If it has to be proven in court, let’s prove it in court. Whatever the decision is in court,” said Ira.
Policy 3 Times Title Matters
The police said that the determination of the suspect was taken after his party conducted 3 court cases. Polda Metro Jaya Dirlantas Kombes Latif Usman explained that after the incident mediation efforts had been made between Hasya’s family and ESBW (retired police officer). However, this mediation did not produce a meeting point.
“We and the TKP team conducted investigations up to the title of the case three times. Attended by Propam, Irwasum and Bidkum,” said in a press conference, Friday (27/1/2022).
Latif admitted that the investigation into this case took time before the police finally decided to stop the investigation. The case was stopped because the suspect in this case was a UI student who died in the accident.
“We stopped this investigation because after the investigative investigation process up to the title of the case until the crime scene was actively sketched, yes, because of his own negligence, it resulted in his own life. We stopped the investigation process to provide legal certainty,” he said.
