Parents will be reimbursed for childcare costs for the period when they are not allowed to bring their children. Since Monday, only people with so-called crucial professions, such as care and emergency services, have been allowed to bring their children to the shelter.
The cabinet has decided that all other parents will receive the personal contribution they pay for the period from March 16 to April 6 inclusive. Parents have to pay the bill first. The amount will be refunded later via the childcare organizations.
“If the bills are not paid, we run the risk that reception locations will be endangered and in the worst case will have to close,” said State Secretary Van Ark of Social Affairs and Employment. “This would also be very undesirable in the long term.”
The refund will apply until April 6, because the measures against the corona outbreak will continue to apply until then. If the situation persists, the return measure can be extended, according to Van Ark “for example by a few weeks”.
