parade in Mulhouse in 1945 in the presence of General Charles de Gaulle

Mr. Wilmouth, President of AS.CO.MEMO. (ASsociation pour la Conservation de la MÉmoire en Moselle in 1939-1945) tells us about this photo for which we were looking for information.

Visit of Charles de Gaulle in the liberated city of Mulhouse

The photo corresponds to the parade of the 11th Cuirassiers of the 1st French Army which took place on February 10, 1945 in Mulhouse, at the end of the clearing of the city.

Among the crowd present that day, we can distinguish in the first row General Charles de Gaulle saluting the marching soldiers. To his right are women wearing the traditional Alsatian costume while to his left stand Generals Juin and de Lattre de Tassigny (part of the body is cut off in the image). On the tribune of honor, Generals Sudre and Touzier du Vigier are also present.
