Pangdam Siliwangi Ready to Help Unload Rizieq Billboards in Banten

Serang, CNN Indonesia

Pangdam Siliwangi Major General Nugroho Budi Wiryanto said that his party is ready to assist the Banten Provincial Government’s Satpol PP in bringing order billboard unlicensed, including billboards for leaders of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Rizieq Shihab.

“We discipline billboards that are not in accordance with the rules, we will lower them. We will still prioritize the Satpol PP, in the backup of the Police and the TNI,” Nugroho said at the West Square of Serang City, Wednesday (25/11).

Banten Police Chief Inspector General Fiandar stated that his party would also assist Satpol PP in removing unauthorized banners, including billboards with Rizieq Shihab’s image.

Fiandar said that every banner to billboard must have a permit from the local government (Pemda). The installation of banners must also pay a fee, pay attention to their location so as not to cause chaos.

“One word with all, illegal banners, which do not have permission from the local government, are open, public, all lowered, not only HRS (Habib Rizieq Shihab), Satpol PP of course knows which ones are registered and which are not,” said Fiandar.

Previously, Pangdam Jaya Major General Dudung Abdurachman ordered his troops to remove billboards with Rizieq’s image in a number of areas of Jakarta and its surroundings. Dudung claimed that his actions were due to a request from Satpol PP.

Kodam Jaya assessed that the messages on the billboards tended to be provocative.

This attitude of the Kodam Jaya has attracted criticism. According to a number of parties, the TNI violated its duties as a means of national defense.
