PANDI: The younger generation must be the promoter of MSMEs in the digital era

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Chairman of the Board of Management of the Indonesian Domain Name Association (PANDI) Yudho Giri Sucahyo said the younger generation should be the promoters of the development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in increasing the selling value of products in the digital era.

According to Yudho, the younger generation can use technology to help SMEs in marketing their products to international markets.

“The models can be various. Can be present on social media, on platforms e-commerce, or even make your own website,” Yudho said in a virtual press conference, Tuesday.

In addition, Yudho said, the use of technology by the younger generation in helping MSMEs is also important because current consumer behavior has changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Movement will be limited, consumers cannot meet face-to-face with sellers. Therefore, many have turned to online transactions,” he said.

“So during this pandemic, MSMEs are lucky to recognize digital technology so they can still reach customers. But not all are so lucky. And the younger generation plays an important role in this,” he continued.

MSME Empowerment Activist Satria Kenvaleriano Syahputra said the younger generation can really help MSMEs at least by promoting their products through social media.

“When someone uploads it via social media, then there will be other people who see it and may be interested in finding out about the MSME,” said the young man who is familiarly called Ken.

Ken added that it is actually not a difficult thing for the younger generation to support MSMEs because according to him, the younger generation is now increasingly aware that locally made goods are of no less quality than foreign products.

“The difficult thing is how to spread a good message so that other people can hear it, because many people only use it but don’t spread it,” he said.

“So to all the young people who want to deliver gratitude you to MSMEs, support them as much as you can. Don’t have to buy, but by paying attention to their products then share to other people can also make their business more advanced,” concluded Ken.

Previously, PANDI and the Central Governing Body of the Mainstay of the Acceptor Family Income Improvement Business Group (BPP AKU) had held the 2021 Local Hero Festival Wirakarya program, a competition event for the younger generation to market MSME products.

There are three competitions held in the event, namely: Live Selling Competition, Empowerment Action, and Video Advertising, whose winner will be announced on October 28, 2021.
