Panamanians who are in New York, United States, are being invited to receive the Jhonson & Jhonson (J&J) vaccine for free, regardless of their immigration status and only for those over 18 years of age.

The vaccination day is being organized by the General Consulate of Panama in New York together with the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (NYC Health + Hospitals).

Immunization will be May 15-16, 2021, at 2294 Bedford Ave. Brooklyn, NY.

Those interested can send an email to [email protected] or a WhatsApp message at 347-224-7479 with their name, e-mail, NY address, telephone number and the phrase “vaccination”.

The J&J vaccine (JNJ-78436735), also known as Ad26.COV2.S., uses an attenuated virus that has no action. Through a single dose, it can produce the antibodies not only at the upper respiratory extract level, but also the lower one that is needed for protection against the virus, reported Janssen medical manager Tatiana Deschamps.

In April, the United States Government authorized the resumption “immediately” of the use of the vaccine by Janssen, the Belgian subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson (J&J), after its administration was practically suspended for ten days due to several cases of thrombosis in women. EFE reported.

“We have concluded that the known and potential benefits of the (Johnson & Johnson) COVID-19 vaccine outweigh its known and potential risks in people 18 years of age and older. We are confident that this vaccine continues to meet our standards for safety, efficacy, and quality, “said FDA Acting Director Janet Woodcock.
