Representative Palestine at the United Nations (PBB), Nada Abu Tarbush, was in the spotlight after his speech at a hearing against aggression Israel to the Gaza Strip went viral on social media.
Tarbush, one of the female Palestinian diplomats, said that the United States must stop being two-faced by pretending to support Palestine when Washington continues to support Israel’s aggression against Gaza.
The statement was expressed by Tarbush in the session right of reply at the UN session in Geneva on November 13. In the UN session, session right of reply given to countries that feel the need to respond to other countries’ statements in the session.
“The US doesn’t need to pretend that you are defending the people of Gaza. The US doesn’t need to pretend when you just passed a billion-dollar additional military aid package to Israel while Israel is killing Palestinians, most of whom are refugees and children.
In his striking statement, Tarbush even satirized reports that the US was planning to send US$320 million worth of bomb ammunition to Israel.
Tarbush also revealed his findings that the share prices of the US defense industry and weapons manufacturers actually crept up when Israel continued to bombard Gaza.
“Can the US explain how this stance is in line with its obligations under International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Law[…]”So don’t you dare say that you (the US) support and defend the Palestinians until you stop sending weapons to Israel which is carrying out genocide,” said Tarbush in a video uploaded by the Palestinian Ambassador to England, Husam Zomlot.
In the video, Tarbush also attacked all Israeli official statements that discredit the Palestinian nation.
“To Israel, we try to remind that our name is not the Palestinian Authority but the Palestinian State. Your (Israeli) Minister of Finance also recently said that there is no such thing as Palestinians, OK. And your prime minister on September 24 at the General Assembly Session “The UN is showing off a map of the New Middle East in which Palestine is removed from the map and replaced by Israel entirely,” Tarbush said.
“If all of your countries here are countries that are pro-annexation and racist, but this institution (the UN) is not like that. Therefore we humbly ask you to comply with the UN protocol and its nomenclature to respect all parties in this room .
On that occasion, Tarbush also revealed Israel’s statement regarding the reasons they launched aggression on the Gaza Strip since 7 October. According to him, Israel’s statements so far have made the whole world shudder with fear.
“Israel has been effectively saying: I can kill any and all people in Gaza. That 2.3 million Gazans are terrorists, terrorist sympathizers, or human shields so they are legitimate targets (to be killed),” said Tarbush.
“Everyone in Gaza, according to Israel, falls into these three categories (legitimate targets of military attacks). Children, journalists, doctors, UN staff, babies in incubators. And now Israel has the courage to come into this courtroom and say loudly stating that ‘we have behaved in accordance with international law’,” he added.
Israel’s aggression against Palestine has continued and has even become more indiscriminate since its war with Hamas broke out on October 7.
The United States even chuckles at supporting Israel, which refuses to implement a ceasefire even though civilian casualties continue to fall.
As of Monday (20/11), the Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that the death toll due to Israeli aggression since October 7 had reached 13 thousand people.
As many as 5,500 of the victims who died were children, while around 3,500 of the other victims who died were women.
Currently, Israel is even more explicitly targeting hospitals in Gaza in their aggression. After raiding and destroying the Al Shifa Hospital, the Israeli military is now attacking the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza.
Journalist Al JazeeraSafwat Kahlout, reported that several people living near the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza explained that the hospital complex had been surrounded by Israeli troops and military vehicles.
