Pakistani blogger Ahmad Waqass Goraya was attacked on Sunday and threatened with death in his hometown Rotterdam, says NGO Reporters Without Borders. The story is known to the police.
Goraya writes about human rights and lives with his family in the Netherlands because he feels unsafe in Pakistan. According to Reporters Without Borders, it is clear that the Pakistani security service is behind the attack.
On the street, Goraya was hit in the face by a man, while a henchman filmed the incident. The man who struck threatened Goraya with death and said he knew exactly where he and his family live.

Earlier Goraya received messages to the effect that his days were numbered, he tells the NOS. “I saw someone filming and then I knew for sure that the Pakistani state was behind it.” According to him, it is more common for an attack to be filmed, because that proof is needed to receive a reward.
The blogger has reported abuse to the Rotterdam police. He makes no further statements about the case. Reporters Without Borders calls the incident “a blatant attack on Dutch sovereignty” and wants Minister Blok to call on the Pakistani ambassador.
