No stiff hassle in Kinepolis, the premiere of Dealer took place in a very casual atmosphere. “We are blown away by the positive commentary. When I read your newspaper this morning, I immediately woke up happy. Partly because of this, the atmosphere is very relaxed,” says lead actor Ben Segers.

The film, which is set in the drug environment, does not crawl into the cold clothes. Johnny (Sverre Rous) is a drug runner who dreams of a different life, away from drugs. He finds comfort and hope in his client Antony (Ben Segers), an internationally successful actor. “The drug theme is painfully topical. It’s like this movie had to come out now. With a clear message: a warm nest is very important. Otherwise, the risk of derailment is very high. if Dealer thought provoking in that respect, the film was a success”, says Ben Segers.

Stands for Dealer Jeroen Perceval’s directorial debut, then fifteen-year-old Sverre Rous is the discovery of the film. Yet he was also very relaxed on the red carpet. “I’m not stressed, but I’m really looking forward to finally seeing the film in the theater,” beamed the young actor, who already noticed that there is great interest in his environment. “Friends asked me to fix tickets for the premiere and they want to watch together on Thursday.”

The film made a big impression on him. “The shooting was pretty intense. I was shocked when I saw drugs on the table. What did I do then? I packed my bag. How else do you think I got this tuxedo?” joked Sverre, to the delight of a laughing Ayman Sitiane, who plays Johnny’s boyfriend in the film. “I don’t like drugs, but I do see a lot happening around me,” Sverre reveals, back seriously. “What happens in the film, we also see in reality. Hopefully many young people, especially those struggling with drug problems, will come to Dealer to look. Drugs are dangerous and destroy people. Meeting one wrong person is enough to hang on to it. The film can open the eyes of many young people. Hopefully that will work”, Sverre and Ayman keep their fingers crossed.

Dealer can be seen in cinemas from Wednesday.
