Pacquiao vs. Spence am 21. August in Las Vegas

As Manny Pacquiao announced on Instagram himself, the future Hall of Famer will meet the undefeated WBC / IBF welterweight champ Errol Spence Jr. in Las Vegas on August 21.

Pacquiao, the only boxer who has ever received title honors in 8 different weight classes and has already faced the who’s who of the boxing elite in his career, is now about to reach for the stars again when he faces the undefeated WBC / IBF Champion Errol Spence Jr. gets into the ring. The duel between the two southpaws could be seen as a meeting of generations. When Spence started his professional career after the 2012 Olympics, PacMan was already world champion in 8 different weight classes.

PacMan, who last won the WBA super welterweight belt in 2019 by split decision against the previously undefeated Keith Thurman, lost it through a controversial, incomprehensible decision on the green table.

Spence, on the other hand, was active in December 2020 when he was able to defend his two belts against Danny Garcia by a unanimous decision on points. After a union fight between Spence and WBO champ Terence Crawford could never be finalized, this was by far the best setting that could be realized in the welterweight division.

Spence, who barely survived a horror crash in 2019, maliciously commented on the upcoming fight with the hashtag #blamebob. Bob Arum, who promotes Terence Crawford, is apparently blamed for the failure of the mega fight.

If Pacquiao wins, the eternal debate about the “goat” in boxing should be expanded to include another name. Because despite all the experience, the Philippine senator is likely to go into the race as an underdog against the 11-year-old Texan.
