Overwatch 2 in beta will arrive at the end of April

It’s been almost two and a half years since Blizzard first appeared announced Overwatch 2 and after many excuses and delays now promises the company that the first beta version will be available at the end of April. There will be a lot of news in the beta version, but it should not be taken for granted that everything will be included in the final game.

To begin with, a new hero is introduced by the name Sojourn, which Blizzard released a preview of already in February during Blizzcon. Sojourn has a kind of projectile weapon with two different positions, where the right button on the mouse works as one railgun which gives the impression of doing a lot of damage. Sojourn’s other abilities are not completely known, but one seems to have to do with how Sojourn moves in the game and the special ability is said to improve all other abilities and the amount of damage that Sojourn can deal.

The new maps are called Circuit Royal, Midtown, New Queen Street and Colosseo. The first is one Escortmap, the other a hybrid map and the last two are Pushmaps. Specifically Push is a new game mode, while the other types of maps already exist in Overwatch. A little more controversial is Blizzard has changed the game to five against five, instead of six against six players. They believe the game publisher will increase the pace of Overwatch 2, which is an attempt to make the game more attractive as an e-sports title.

It also means big changes for some characters in the game, especially for those who were tanks earlier. These are now becoming a little more mobile and should be able to do a little more damage, at the expense of not being able to protect their teammates as well as in Overwatch. The beta version introduces new changes to Orisa, Doomfist, Bastion and Sombra, but Blizzard did not go into any details on what those changes mean. A new ping system will also be part of the beta.

The beta version, which will be released in April, only supports PvP game mode, ie player against player. This is not a completely unexpected decision, given that it is Overwatch’s most popular game mode. Blizzard is already starting today with an internal Alpha version, where some professional Overwatch players are also invited to participate. It is possible to sign up for the beet from today.

Have you signed up for the Overwatch 2 beta or are you staying in the original so far?
