OVERVIEW. The Consultation Committee decided this: schools closed earlier, contact professions closed again, shopping by appointment | Instagram VTM NEWS

After Friday last week Some of the easing measures already announced have been postponed, the Consultation Committee today announced another series of stricter measures. Prime Minister Alexander De Croo speaks of an ‘Easter break’ and just explained the measures at a press conference. An overview.

• Of non-medical contact professions, such as hairdressers, beauticians, nail technicians, massage and pedicure salons, tattooists, piercing studios and manned tanning salons have been open less than a month after the previous closing period, but are due to close again from Saturday.

• Also the non-essential stores must close again from Saturday for a period of four weeks, although customers can by appointment shop. A person may be accompanied by “a maximum of one other person who lives under the same roof”. Large shops may receive a maximum of 50 people at the same time. Fun shopping in groups is out of the question.

• Our ‘outdoor bubble‘will have to be reduced again in the coming weeks and will be reduced from a maximum of 10 to a maximum of 4 people.

• Of schools close a week earlier, from Monday March 29 instead of at the start of the Easter holidays on Monday April 5, and that in both primary and secondary education. Physical classes are suspended. What this means for the Easter exams in secondary is not yet clear. The same goes for primary education. “We cannot ask our primary schools to switch to distance learning within two days,” responded Lieve Boeve of the Catholic Education Flanders.

Nursery education and childcare will remain open. The intention is still that all schools can reopen on Monday 19 April.

Teleworking is and remains mandatory. Companies that do not follow the teleworking rules risk stricter penalties from now on, until closing.

• Of curfew in our country remains unchanged and is therefore not tightened.

• There will be in our country no prohibition on non-essential movements.

• It ban on non-essential travel abroad remains in force. Police checks at national borders are being stepped up.

• The Consultation Committee seems complete extracurricular activities in youth camps without overnight stay to keep everything as it was during the Easter holidays. These are therefore not suspended. A maximum of 10 children can participate in an extracurricular activity or youth camp. The activities for 13-year-olds and older must take place in the open air. Those under the age of 13 are urged to keep the activities outdoors as well. The recommendation of maximum one hobby per child continues to apply

This is exactly the opposite of what we had initially asked with the expertsVirologist responded Steven Van Gucht about this in Het Journaal (One). “Schools are a priority, we have always said to put a brake on extracurricular activities first. I think it is very important that parents put a brake on their children’s hobbies. ”
