OVERVIEW. Record number of 2,548 new infections on Monday, hospital admissions and deaths continue to rise | Inland | News

From 22 to 28 September, an average of 1,628.7 new confirmed corona infections per day were detected in Belgium. That is an increase of 8 percent compared to the seven days prior to that period, according to Sciensano’s online dashboard. Monday, a record peak of 2,548 new infections was recorded. The number of deaths from corona rises to an average of 7 per day. The average number of hospitalizations is also increasing again.

The average number of new infections continues to increase, but the increase has been less marked for several days. Yesterday, Sciensano reported an increase of 8 percent, on Wednesday it was 9 percent.

In total there were 11,401 new infections in the period from September 22 to September 28, or an average of 1,628.7 new cases per day. According to the last known daily figures for our country, 2,548 infections were detected on Monday, September 28, the largest number since the start of the outbreak. On Sunday, September 27, the number was 538 and on September 26, 912. The previous sad record fell on April 10, when 2,336 new corona infections were detected. Much less testing was done in that period than today.
