During the most recent meeting with the shareholders at the top of Nintendo, the president of the company Shuntaro Furokawa spent a few words about the sales of Switch, its life cycle and plans for the future.
“Total sales of Nintendo Switch have passed the 60 million units, creating a solid business foundation for the future. At the same time Nintendo Switch is only now experiencing the half of its life cycle, for this reason we are convinced that the growth of this console will go far beyond what was possible with our platforms of the past“explains the president.
Furokawa then went on to list the benefits that the two versions of the console guarantee: “Also, unlike our old consoles, they exist two versions of Nintendo Switch that allow consumers […] to choose the one that best suits your lifestyle. Like Nintendo, being able to concentrate our development resources on a single platform has the advantage of facilitating the creation of an environment useful for designing a larger number. of unique forms of entertainment compared to the past. This is one of the reasons why we have decided to extend the life cycle of the Nintendo Switch“.
It therefore seems that the big N wants to continue supporting its hybrid console for a long time to come, confirming this Fuokawa said in the same interview that many new games will arrive on Nintendo Switch in 2021.
