From here to 2030 Italy would intend to allocate over 4 billion euros to encourage Intel to open chip production plants (and not only) within our borders. According to the news agency Reutershaving come into possession of a draft of the decree, Rome is ready to offer public money and other favorable conditions to support part of Intel’s investment, expected to be 8 billion euros spread over 10 years.
According to the source, 150 million euros in 2022 and 500 million euros every year from 2023 to 2030 they would represent the allocation for Intel, as part of an 8 billion euro plan aimed at supporting “research and development of microprocessor technologies and investments in new industrial applications for innovative technologies”.

To increase the share of chips produced in Italy, the government is also in talks with STMicroelectronics, MEMC Electronic Materials (in the hands of Taiwanese GlobalWafers) and the Israeli Tower Semiconductor – which according to the recent takeover offer it will soon fall into Intel’s perimeter.
