Ourense, the province that receives the least protection material | Radio Ourense

Ourense presents a low distribution of protections and suffers shortages, despite the number of infections in the province. Since the beginning of the week, the authorities have been distributing protection material on the street to people who resumed their work; deploying Civil Protection personnel, and with the help of the Civil Guard and National Police at the train and bus stations of the provincial capital, in the accesses to the polygons of San Cibrao, Pereiro de Aguiar and Barreiros; and also in the towns of Barbadás, Carballiño, Xinzo de Limia, Celanova, O Barco or Verín.

The province of Ourense has received for distribution 68,000 masks, the smallest batch delivered by the Government Delegation of the more than 600,000 who has decided. The executive delegate in Galicia, Javier Losada, wanted to thank the collaboration of the State Security Forces and Bodies, and recalls that, although the use of these protection elements is recommended by the Government, the best tools are good hand hygiene and keeping a safe distance at all times; limiting the use of the mask to those who must travel to their workplace without being able to take any of the above precautions.

In the meantime, Ourense pharmacies work against the clock to restock their stocks protection materials, which are currently lacking. The president of the College of Pharmacists of Ourense, Santiago Laws, told Radio Ourense Cadena SER that the orders have been placed, but their suppliers cannot guarantee a delivery date. For this reason, Laws ask the population not to go to pharmaceutical establishments looking for masks, since they are not available, and will announce the receipt of stocks in a timely manner. In his view, it is a superfluous displacement that would put people at risk.
