The recent Oukitel WP21 has a military-grade exterior, a 9,800mAh battery and a 120Hz screen, but it also comes with a secondary AMOLED display on the back. For $280 it doesn’t look bad at all.
The Oukitel WP21 is equipped with a 6.78-inch screen, Full HD+ resolution, 120Hz, the type of panel used is not detailed in the manufacturer’s description, it is probably a simple IPS LCD solution.
On the back, however, there is a secondary AMOLED display with always-on display functionality, which can be used to control the media player, view notifications, but can also be used to take selfies with the main camera. Watch faces can also be downloaded onto this tiny display, meaning the time can also be read from it.
Let’s stay with the cameras, which are headed by a 64-megapixel primary image recorder equipped with a Sony IMX686 sensor, but the back is decorated with a 20-megapixel night vision camera and a 2-megapixel macro module.
A MediaTek Helio G99 chipset is responsible for the operation of the cameras and all other hardware components, which is accompanied by 12GB of RAM and 256GB of expandable storage during assembly. Data connection capabilities are complemented by NFC, Bluetooth 5.0 and GNSS positioning.
Oukitel WP21’s external casing complies with IP68, IP69K and MIL-STD-810H ratings. Obviously this device can also be destroyed, but these evaluations assure us that it will not necessarily be an easy task. Inside the mobile is a massive 9,800mAh battery which, according to the manufacturer, provides 1,150 hours of standby time on a single charge.
By the way, the smartphone can also be used as a power bank, which means that you can charge other devices with it using an OTG cable. Despite the massive battery and rugged design, the device was no bigger than 177.3 x 84.3 x 14.8 mm and heavier than 398 grams. The Oukitel WP21 will be available at a price of USD 280, which means around HUF 110,000 in Hungarian currency. Sales of the smartphone will start on November 24th.
