Ostapenko does not beat the second round of the Birmingham WTA 250 / Day

Ostapenko, who was seeded number one in the tournament and ranked 16th in the WTA, lost to Ukrainian tennis player Dajana Jastremska (WTA 79) in the quarter-finals 6-3, 5-7, 5-7.

For reaching the second round, Ostapenko earned 30 WTA points and a $ 3,800 cash prize.

It has already been reported that in the first round, the Latvian tennis player defeated Rebecca Marino from Canada 6-2, 5-7, 6-3, while Jastremska defeated the Polish Magda Lineti 6-4, 6-3.

For Ostapenko, this was the second game of the season on the floor, where he won eight of the ten games last year and triumphed in the Eastbourne tournament. The previous tournament for a Latvian tennis player was the French Open Championship, where she stopped in the second round. In the most successful cut of the season in the winter, Ostapenko won nine matches in a row and became the champion of the Dubai “WTA 500” series.

Meanwhile, Jastremska competed in the Hertogenbosch “WTA 250” series tournament last week, where in the first match with a 6-2, 6-7 (1: 7), 2-6 neutral tennis player Ekaterina Aleksandrova (WTA 27th) was recognized.

Ostapenko has won 16 of 26 games this season, while Jastremska has won 18 games in 31 matches.

Ostapenko played for the fourth time in his career in Birmingham. In 2016 and 2019, she reached the quarterfinals, but lost in the second match last year.

In the doubles, Ostapenko, along with Ukrainian Lyudmila Kichenok, reached the quarterfinals on Monday, which will be played today against US tennis players Catherine McNaly and Lorena Davis.

The WTA 250 in Birmingham is the penultimate race in the UK before the Wimbledon Championships in late June and early July.
