An Aquila health worker in the hospital of L’Aquila, vaccinated with booster, tested positive for the Brazilian variant. The infection was discovered during the periodic checks to which the staff is subjected.
The Brazilian variant was found by the experimental zooprophylactic institute of Abruzzo and Molise, very careful evaluations are underway on the case: the oss, who is in home isolation, is asymptomatic, therefore, the serum would have protected the operator from severe symptoms and forms. According to what has been learned, he would have been infected in the family, most likely by his mother: an outbreak with about 6 infected people developed in the family unit, on which investigations are underway to verify whether it is a Brazilian variant. People are at home and in good condition. The positivity was reported to the national authorities and raised concerns in L’Aquila where measures were taken to trace the contacts: however, it seems that there have not been many meetings on the part of the family. Meetings of the competent authorities were held, which saw the presence of representatives from the Municipality and the L’Aquila ASL. Tomorrow a summit is scheduled in the presence of the prefect, Cinzia Torraco.
