Orbetello Book Prize: Bissoli, Franchini and Ravera in the final

Career tribute to Björn Larsson fromOrbetello Book Prize – Maremma Tuscany coast. The organizers themselves of the literary prize of the Municipality of Orbetello (Grosseto), in its third edition, announced this by announcing the trio of finalists: Susanna Bissoli, I folgoratiEinaudi; Antonio Franchini, The fire you carry inside youMarsilius; Lidia Ravera, One day all this will be yoursBompiani.

The award will be held in the Giardini Chiusi park in Orbetello from 27 to 29 June. A special mention was then given by the jury to Valeria Parrella for the book Small miracles and other betrayals, Feltrinelli.

“It is always encouraging to receive a prestigious prize because behind it there are readers who take literature seriously – declares Larsson as reported by the organizers of the Orbetello book prize in a note – It is even more important when the prize is not given only for the latest “news” or what “everyone is talking about”. In this world made of fragments and a lot of bits, an award like the Orbetello award reminds us that literature must not have an expiry date”.

The president of the jury Paolo di Paolo he adds that “it was not easy either for the jurors or for the quality readers to get to the trio of this edition, which represents different writings and paths, two authors of different generations, an author who knows the publishing world well and with a recognizable voice ; a special mention to the stories of Valeria Parrella, a true master of the story. We are very happy to award the career tribute to Björn Larsson, a very popular Swedish writer with a special relationship with Italy by virtue of his latest book, ‘to be or not to be human’ – concludes di Paolo – because it asks questions about our nature as human beings”.

Now the full jury comes into play, enriched by 100 jurors from the Friends of the Reading Park group, from the group of Young Readers of Orbetello made up of students from the classical high school, scientific high school, linguistic high school, technical commercial institute, professional food and wine institute. Together with the selection group and the group of strong readers they make up a jury of 120 people who will have to choose the winner of the third edition of obp 2024.
