Prof. Mircea Coșea draws attention to the statement of the PNL leader, Ludovic Orban.

Economics professor Mircea Coșea noticed a statement of the PNL president, Ludovic Orban, which went unnoticed. The statement was made in the context of the budget rectification, when it will be necessary to supplement the funds for investment contracts, in the context in which prices for construction materials have exploded.
Mircea Coșea points out, on Antena 3, that any investment will be blocked if it does not have additional funds, due to the sudden and significant increase in costs. In this context, the professor emphasizes that the statement of Ludovic Orban “means that the rectification must take into account the transfer of significant sums to this sector.”
“Nobody talks about something very serious”
“Another important element is that there is a practice in Romania, cross-party, all parties have done the same, namely the budget rectification has had certain elements of political opportunity, in the sense that those who have money maneuver in such a way as to favor certain domestic politics. In this case, things are complicated, because we are witnessing a fight in the PNL, and, after the prime minister has become Minister of Finance, he will decide what to do with the money. (…) Nobody is talking about a very serious thing: we have crossed the red line on loans, we have exceeded 50, and, if the PNRR also enters into force, (…) it will exceed 60%. This means that, by the time we get there, we need to enter austerity, which is to block all spending, even reduce it., because, at the level of the Government, measures must be taken in order to be able to either reduce the loans or be paid. A working group has been set up and, within 2-3 weeks, an amendment to the legislation will be prepared. I repeat, it is a way of indexing the value of contracts, as a result of the increase in the price of construction materials, unprecedented increases “said Ludovic Orban, who warned that” otherwise there is a risk that many builders will not be able to complete investment objectives without a proper indexation mechanism ”.
