Orange and Facebook linked by the Friendship cable
After finalizing the installation of Dunant, Orange is still working on a new transatlantic submarine fiber optic cable called “AMITIE”. With a total length of 6,800 km, carrying 16 pairs of fiber with a maximum capacity of 23 Tbit / s each and initiated by Facebook, it will be operational from the beginning of 2022.
The construction of this gigantic project, estimated at 250 million euros, was entrusted to the French specialist Alcatel Submarine Networks, a subsidiary of Finland’s Nokia, while Orange will be responsible for the French part of these two cables.
Drinking water hacking
A hacker gained access to the computer systems of a Florida city water treatment facility and changed the levels of chemicals. He accessed a computer system set up to allow remote control of water treatment operations.
This is not the first time this has happened in the United States, but the previous incident, which dates back to 2015-2016, was characterized as an accident rather than an intentional attack. In Israel, too, a series of such attacks took place last year, but none of the attacks succeeded.
