Figure Papuan separatists, Benny Wenda, defend Luke Enembethe governor of Papua who has been arrested KPK. “We don’t want to know about Benny Wenda. This is according to the legal process and takes a long time,” Mahfud told reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, Friday (13/1/2023).
Mahfud said that so far the people have been criticizing them because they have not arrested Lukas Enembe. He said conditions in Papua were conducive after the KPK detained Lukas.
“Now Papua is very conducive, and Papuan leaders have spoken so that the law is enforced against Lukas Enembe, all of them yeah“The chairman of the KNPI, community leaders, traditional leaders, have upheld the law,” said Mahfud.

Apart from that, Mahfud confirmed that the movement of money from a number of officials in Papua was monitored. If anyone breaks the law, they will be punished.
“The government is currently overseeing the movement of money whose authorization is under officials outside Luke. If there is money authorized by this, we will monitor it through the PPATK. If it is used to commit acts of breaking the law, vandalism and so on, we will take it as soon as possible,” he said.
Regarding the relationship between Lukas Enembe and the leader of the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) that, Mahfud emphasized that it was another matter. According to him, the KPK focuses on corruption issues.
“No. That’s a political matter. That’s another matter. It’s not a matter of corruption. It has nothing to do with Benny Wenda. (That) is another separatist matter,” he said.

Benny Wenda’s statement regarding Lukas Enembe was previously conveyed via his Twitter account. He said Benny Wenda was in danger.
“Indonesia must immediately release Governor Lukas Enembe who was arrested on false corruption charges. Governor Enembe is paralyzed and requires immediate medical attention. While he is being held by Indonesia, his life is in danger,” Benny tweeted, Thursday (12/1/2023) ) yesterday.
