Opinion poll, Stortinget | Large majority in all parties for the President of the Storting to leave

In Nettavisen’s recent poll, there is no doubt. People believe that the now resigned President of the Storting was right to do just that.

There has been a storm in the Storting this week after Adressa on Tuesday revealed that the Speaker of the Storting, Eva Kristin Hansen (Labor Party) in the period 2014 to 2017 received a free commuter apartment in Oslo in violation of the rules.

On Thursday afternoon, Hansen had to explain the matter in a meeting with the parliamentary leaders in the Storting. Afterwards, she said that it was not up to her to assess whether she had confidence, she apologized and said she misunderstood the rules.

Thursday night the wind turned. At 18.19, the Oslo police district announced that they have created investigation of the commuter housing cases at the Storting. Five minutes later Hansen announced that she steps aside as President of the Storting.

3 out of 4 did not trust

Before Thursday’s news that Hansen was resigning, InFact had been commissioned by Nettavisen to ask voters if they had confidence in Hansen as President of the Storting.

And the people’s verdict is clear: In total, 74.2 percent thought they did not trust Hansen as president of the Storting. Only 13 per cent answered that they trusted Hansen, while 12.9 per cent answered that they did not know.

Even before Thursday’s news, the people were ready for their speech. 69 percent thought she should retire, while only 15.8 percent thought she should not.

As many as 78 percent of those asked say they do not believe the explanation that Eva Kristin Hansen has given as the reason why she acted in violation of the rules. 10.6 per cent believe the explanation Hansen has given, and 11.4 per cent have answered that they do not know.

There is no doubt that the case has involved the population. As many as 91.6 per cent of those who were asked say they have heard about Eva Kristin Hansen’s commuter apartment.

636 people participated in the poll. The margin of error is 3.6 percent

Did not trust any voter groups

The survey also shows that there is agreement among the voters of the various parties.

Even in Hansen’s own party, the Labor Party, only 20.9 per cent had confidence in her as president of the Storting. 69.9 per cent of Labor voters did not have confidence, and 59.4 per cent thought she should resign.

The voters of the various parties respond by percentage:

It is among the voters at MDG Hansen finds the most support. 28.6 percent of MDG voters thought the President of the Storting did not need to resign. Nevertheless, 57.1 thought she should resign as President of the Storting.

Among the FRP voters, there was no doubt. 86.4 percent of their voters said that Hansen should resign as President of the Storting.

FRP leader Sylvi Listhaug is on the same wavelength with her voters at this point. She was in fact one of the first politicians in the Storting who said that Hansen should consider his position. She said this on Wednesday.

– It is very wise that she does it, at the same time as I understand that it is a very difficult case for her. But here there was no way around it, Listhaug says to NTB.
