Beuys / body / composition / space / space-box / Messina / pictorial work / active participation / painting / performance / Poincheval / time / viewer / meaning / viewer to the work

The painting of Messina invites the viewer to enter in thepictorial work through an opening that frames the scene in which Saint Jerome throne, alone and peacefully, in the center of the composition and a space-box that acts as a screen to a depth suggested of hand and on the other by windows. Birds are watching the scene, also a coyote plays a scene of a bear and offers a stage : all animals coexist with the man confined in the time and suspended spaces confined. Taming tested and implemented in some performance artistic. Beuys and Poincheval explore their own limits and conditions human : overcoming or letting tame an animal with which they are body. A space-time confined lived, delivered in deferred or direct, which includes the viewer to the workin a contemplation or passive active participationby engaging in dialogue with the artist Poincheval as to better share and collect our different meaningthe art of containment.

3) What definitions can you make between a pictorial two-dimensional and a work performance :

  • Pictorial two-dimensional : the painting is a painting and the two-dimensionality corresponds to its two dimensions : height x width. Some of the pictorial works that can be undertaken the three-dimensionality, that is to say, the low/high relief, such as some Shaped canvases of Frank Stella (we will also speak of sculpto-painting).
  • Work performance : a work performer is an artistic performance which is a mode of expression of contemporary art (appeared at the end of the 60’s) where an event, an action and its unfolding in time is a work of art. At the confluence/intersection of artistic expressions and communicative plural (dance, music, theatre, visual arts) and multimedia, it seeks, in a staging and dramatization of the body (of the artist), a blurring of all boundaries and divisions, or boundaries, creating ambiguity to the spectator who is not, a priori, not be involved by any participation that is other than the quality of the public. The performance is then relayed by the captured photo/video showing the work in deferred.
