Opdenergy obtains financing for more than US $ 100 million for NCRE projects in O’Higgins and Atacama regions

With the initiatives, the Spanish company will specify its entry into the generation business in the country.

Opdenergy, a Spanish company specialized in the development, financing, construction and operation of renewable assets, announced the obtaining of a financing of US $ 103 million by Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), for the development of two projects in Chile, with which it will specify its entry into the generation business in the country.

Its about La Estrella Wind Farm, located in the O’Higgins Region, that it will have 50 MW of installed capacity and whose construction, already started, will be in charge of OHL Industrial; and from Sol de Los Andes Photovoltaic Solar Park, located in the Atacama Region, whose installed capacity will reach 104.3 MWp.

The La Estrella Wind Farm -whose commissioning is scheduled for the end of 2020- will have 11 wind turbines supplied by Siemens Gamesa. These are the SG 5.0-145 model turbines, a benchmark in terms of LCOE and profitability for medium wind sites, which will make this initiative one of the most modern and efficient wind farms in the country.

Opdenergy began the construction of La Estrella with its own resources and its development will be completed through this financing.

For its part, the Sol de los Andes photovoltaic park will be one of the most relevant initiatives in terms of power generation, as it is located in an area with high solar irradiation and has the latest technology available on the market for this type of power plant. , such as bifacial modules, which allow the solar radiation to be captured through both faces of the panels.

Notably with both initiatives the company will comply with the contracts awarded in the Public Bidding Process 2015-21.

The international law firms Milbank (USA), Barros & Errázuriz (Chile), Cuatrecasas (Spain) and Carey & Cía. (Chile), participated as legal advisers to the operation.
