Connection with Alan Wake, light as a weapon and access to the “Arcade Plane” + videos

Remedy Entertainment hat Control: AWE, the second and final extension for Control, in one Livestream presented in more detail. The expansion largely takes place in the “New Investigations Sector”, in which some AWE (Altered World Events) cases have been investigated by the Bureau. This includes the events around Alan Wake in the city of Bright Falls. Control and Alan Wake are part of the “Remedy Connected Universe”. In the new area you hunt a creature that has been up to mischief there for years. The creature and some other manifestations have recently been fought with light.

The “Surge Weapon Form” for the service weapon is also new – basically a grenade launcher with sticky grenades. The weapon shoots up to three grenades at once, which can be detonated remotely. The new enemy type is called “Hiss Airborne Ranger” and can hover, dodge the attacks and use a shotgun blast against Jesse.

In addition, you can fight the main boss fights and the “Ashtray Labyrinth” again through a gaming machine. You will find two gaming machines (objects of power) in AWE, which allow access to the “Arcade Plane”. You must first complete a side mission in order to reach the “Arcade Plane”. Then you can always interact with the gaming machine. One of the machines includes a time trial mode called “Deadline” and a horde mode called “Crowd Control”. With the other device, boss fights that have already been contested from the main game can be repeated – either individually or in a boss rush mode. You can also repeat the Ashtray Labyrinth if you have already completed the corresponding mission. If you finish “Deadline” and “Crowd Control” on high difficulty, you can unlock a new outfit for Jesse. The high level of difficulty is unlocked as soon as you have played through the modes once.

Together with Control: AWE a free update will be released for all owners of the main game. In addition to bug fixes and several improvements, the August update includes an “Assist Mode” (not described in detail), the “Multi-Launch Upgrade” for the launch ability and additional checkpoints for some of the more difficult fights towards the end of the main campaign. Some boss fights control points are now closer to the bosses. PC-specific improvements are also planned.

Control: AWE will be available simultaneously for PC (Epic Games Store and Steam), PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on August 27, 2020.
