Oops, iPhone 14 Threatened to Use a Defective Camera

Jakarta

Prior to its launch, iPhone 14 tinged with some bad news. The latest news is about the supply of the rear camera which is called a defect.

The root of the problem lies in Genius, the supplier of lenses for the iPhone 14 rear camera. The lenses made by Genius are said to be unable to meet the quality requirements set by Apple, and can even be categorized as manufacturing defects.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, a trusted analyst for Apple, the Genius-made lens may have cracked coating. This of course made Apple immediately take emergency steps, namely moving the order for the lens to Largan.

There are 10 million lenses ordered by Apple to Largan, who has previous experience supplying lenses to major mobile phone manufacturers, including Apple. This step is taken Apple so that shipments of iPhone 14 are not delayed.

But Apple is still giving Genius a chance to fix that quality problem. But if within two months the problem can’t be solved, then Apple will order more lenses from Largan.

Previously, Kuo also mentioned that there was a problem with the supply of other iPhone 14 components. Namely for the display panel and memory chip. But according to Kuo, the problem will not have much of an impact on mass production of the iPhone 14, as Apple breaks down orders for the component to multiple companies.

Apple was previously said to be splitting orders for components for the iPhone 14 to multiple companies. The goal is that they are less dependent on one company, and avoid shipping delays if there is a component supply problem.

The iPhone 14 lineup is predicted to be released in September, which consists of four models, namely the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. There is no Mini variant in the iPhone 14 lineup.
