Ono! More Street Fighter! – Capcom – News

In 2008 Street Fighter IV was released in arcade. This new release not only gave the license a facelift, but made fighting games popular again. Its producer, Yoshinori Ono, became a star in a matter of months. However, the battle was far from won in advance. Ono had to fight against Capcom who did not believe in the project.

Rebelotte for Street Fighter V: Ono openly filled that Capcom did not want to fund the project. Street Fighter V ended up being developed with Ono as executive producer this time around. The game has surpassed 4.5 million copies sold and is among the top 10 best-selling Capcom games.

Apparently a Street Fighter VI is in the works and should have been released next year but Ono would have been released from the project according to rumors published on August 5. Today Ono just announced his resignation from Capcom after 30 years in the box. He doesn’t say what he plans to do next, but we hope he will return in a few months with a Kickstarter for a spiritual sequel to Street Fighter.
