Rocks Falling in Lampung Tengah Meteor Confirmed, There Are Metal Elements
Dream – Researchers in the field of Atmospheric and Planetary Science at the Sumatra Institute of Technology (Itera) who descended on Astomulyo Village Dusun 5, Punggur District, Central Lampung Regency, confirmed that the rock that fell in the village was a meteor.
“We have seen the rock that fell into the residents’ houses and it is true that the rock is a meteorite, because there are metal elements there,” said Itera Lecturer at the Atmospheric and Planetary Science Study Program (SAK), Robiatul Muztaba, in Bandarlampung, Friday, January 29, 2021. .
He explained that he knew the metal element in the rock after testing it using a magnet.
“We have tested using magnets and actually meteors. To find out the elements and particles more deeply from the rock, we have taken samples to be brought to the laboratory which took about a week of testing,” he said.
