A rare baby girl was recently born in India. A private hospital in Jharkhand was shocked to find “8 parasitic fetuses” in her body when examining the newborn. According to literature records, the girl is the case of “the most underdeveloped embryos” in the body among only 200 cases in the world.
According to the report of the “Daily Mail”, the child, whose name is protected, was born on October 10, local time. The baby was found with an abnormally swollen abdomen as soon as she was born. She was determined by the computer tomography that there was a tumor in the abdomen and was transferred to Jia. Treatment at Rani Children’s Hospital in Ranchi, the capital of the state of Kanda.
After a further inspection at the Pediatric Hospital, it emerged that the tumor was actually of 8 parasitic fetuses, therefore, although the girl was only 21 days old, the medical team still operated an emergency operation for her. a year and a half hours, and finally all the parasitic fetuses were successfully removed. Post-operative recovery was also quite good. However, the hospital did not disclose the developmental status of these embryos.
The parasitic fetus, also known as fetus within the fetus, was first recorded in the British medical journal in 1808. It is a type of teratoma. Most parasitic fetuses are individuals who cannot survive independently without the brain and other organs, so they usually develop before birth “die”. So this case is not only extremely rare, it is also the 10th medium term pregnancy case in India.
