Online registration: DRK calls for blood donation – Telgte

The German Red Cross <!––> calls for blood donation on Friday, January 29th, in Westbevern and on Monday and Tuesday, February 1st and 2nd, in Telgte. In order to avoid long queues, especially during the Corona period, the Red Cross asks <!––> about reserving a donation time for all donors via the blood donation app or via the Internet.

In the past few months, great efforts have made it possible to guarantee that seriously ill patients are supplied with blood, according to the DRK’s announcement. The Red Cross thanks all people who have contributed to this success with their blood donation or with voluntary work. Blood donation remains safe through various corona protective measures. But it also remains lifesaving and systemically relevant. The health system can only function if enough blood is available. The DRK blood donation service therefore urges you to show confidence and donate blood right now.

Those who are healthy and fit can donate blood. Even in times of the coronavirus, hospitals urgently need blood donations so that patients can continue to be safely treated with blood preparations in therapy and emergency care.

The DRK blood donation services are monitoring the corona situation very closely and are in close contact with the responsible authorities. The currently valid approval regulations for blood donation continue to guarantee a very high level of protection for blood donors and recipients.

It has always been the case: people with flu-like infections or cold symptoms should not even go to a blood donation campaign. You will not be allowed to donate blood. Accompanying persons and children of blood donors are currently not allowed to enter the blood donation room to protect against infection. Blood donors are asked to use their own ballpoint pen if possible.

For donors who work in health professions, there may be restrictions on the approval to donate blood. Whoever belongs to such a professional group is asked to find out more on the Internet before making a donation. Constantly updated information is available at https://www.blutspendedienst-west.de/corona.

Anyone wishing to donate blood must be at least 18 years old and feel healthy. You must bring your identity card with you to the blood donation appointment.

Before donating blood, body temperature, pulse, blood pressure and blood pigment levels are checked. Tests for infectious diseases follow in the blood donation service laboratory.

The actual blood donation takes about five to ten minutes. Then you lie there, completely relaxed, for ten minutes. Since there is currently no snack after the blood donation, the Red Cross will hand out packed lunches to strengthen them.

As a small thank you, every blood donor receives a reusable cup in which he can transport hot drinks in an environmentally friendly way.
