OnePlus Nord 2 5G Launches, Equipped with Dimensity 1200 AI SoC

OnePlus keeps its promise to launch a smartphone dubbed the “flagship killer”, the OnePlus Nord 2 5G. In fact, this is the successor to the OnePlus Nord, which was eagerly awaited last year. Yes! Sounds interesting, the OnePlus Nord 2 5G comes as a flagship killer.

Of course, it is not without reason that OnePlus is so confident to call the OnePlus Nord 2 5G a flagship killer smartphone. The reason is, this smartphone does come with high-end specifications while still maintaining the price in the middle class segment.

For those of you who are curious about the Nord 2 5G, this smartphone packs a 6.43-inch AMOLED screen and has a 90Hz refresh rate. Of course, coming as an eye-catching mid-range smartphone, the OnePlus Nord 2 5G screen already has FullHD+ resolution.

Still on the front of the smartphone, OnePlus complements the Nord 2 5G with a single 32 MP front camera. Yes! It’s a little different from its predecessor which has two cameras on the front. On the other hand, the Nord 2 5G is equipped with dual speakers.

On the back, there are three cameras. Yes! OnePlus did reduce the number of embedded lenses compared to its predecessor. Even so, there is one surprise, namely the main camera on the Nord 2 5G seems more impressive because it already uses a 50 MP Sony IMX 766 sensor, like the one on the flagship OnePlus 9 Pro.

Consumers will find optical image stabilization for shake-free shots and videos as well as Digital Overlap HDR (DOL-HDR) which helps synthesize exposure data from two images into one final shot. There is also an 8 MP ultra-wide lens and a 2 MP monochrome sensor that OnePlus also embeds.

How about the kitchen spur? Since the beginning, OnePlus has always relied on Qualcomm chipsets for its smartphone lineup. However, now they are opening a new chapter in their history by partnering with MediaTek. Yes! The SoC used is Dimensity 1200 AI.

This chipset offers near flagship performance and is paired with 6GB, 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB and 256GB of internal storage. There’s also support for a 4,500mAh dual cell battery with 65W Warp Charge, which OnePlus claims can last up to two days of moderate use.

When a consumer needs to recharge, expect a full charge from 0 to 100% in just 30 minutes. The software front is covered by Oxygen OS 11.3 with Android 11. OnePlus also promises to deliver two years of Android updates and three years of security updates.

The Nord 2 comes in three colours, namely the signature Blue Haze, Gray Sierra with a glossy texture finish, and the India-exclusive Green Woods which features a vegan leather back. The most basic variant, which is 6 GB/128 GB, sells for INR 27,999 or around Rp. 5.5 million.
