The DNA of OnePlus

OnePlus was founded on December 16, 2013 by Pete Lau and Carl Pei. They had a clear goal in mind: to design a smartphone that combines quality and functionality at a lower price than other Android phones in its class. Besides the price point, Lau and Pei criticized the controls of many smartphones. According to them, it was plagued by problems with bloatware and software that does not work intuitively.

In the early days, OnePlus cleverly responded to the creation of hypes by making devices available exclusively by invitation. The company now hopes to create the same special feeling with the Red Cable Club. For the past eight years, this service has been restricted to Indian members only.

Discounts, promotions, early access

What’s in it for you? OnePlus users can join the Red Cable Club and enjoy benefits in the month of December, including an immediate 2% OnePlus.com discount on phones, 10% off the OnePlus Watch and OnePlus Buds Pro, and 20% off accessories, plus free shipping. OnePlus is also giving European Red Cable Club members early access to purchase OnePlus Buds Z2. Finally, members will have the opportunity to purchase one of the last few OnePlus Watch Cobalt Limited Editions in the world.

The Red Cable Club works with a so-called tier system: the more often you use the service and the more you purchase, the more points you collect, which gives you a higher status level. In total there are four tiers. When you sign up, you automatically become a Red Cable Explorer. This is followed by the Red Cable Insider and Red Cable Elite tiers. The highest level is Red Cable Supreme. The latter status gives you a 10% discount on the purchase of smartphones and a 50% discount on OnePlus accessories.
